Congress passes $787 billion stimulus bill Democrats pushed a $787 billion stimulus bill to the brink of final passage Friday night in hopes of combating the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. Republican opposition was nearly unanimous. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29160311/from/ET/ it gives a brief listing of where the money is going to, but not the specifics of it; when i find that online, i'll email the link to you. after all, this bill is 1000 pages long very little in this bill will directly stimulate the economy now, within 6 months. most of this stuff won't effect the market, both job and stock, for years and shouldn't be included in this bill. some of the pork in this package are very good ideas; but others are just down right wasteful, spending money that we, the tax payer, can't afford to spend. not a single republican supported this bill, yet it's still passed. i thought there was checks and balances put in place to prevent one party from being able to take over and pass stuff reguardless of NO SUPPORT from the other side. atleast there was until the democrate party was put in place to pass bills without the need for support from the opposition. now, they're doesn't seem to be a cry of "foul play" like there would be if the tables were turned. the audascity of these congressmen, to think that they can just ignore the voice of 49 million tax paying voters and do whatever they want; to think there would be no consequence and that the people whose voices are being ignored won't try to fight to get our voice heard. there has to be a way for WE THE PEOPLE to stand united and get this bill frozen, to put it back in congress to be reviewed and read in full. instead of the 24 hour time crunch our representatives had on them to read this 1000 page bill and vote on it. this left no time for any real discussion or editing of this entire bill. WE THE PEOPLE have the right to know where the people WE elect spend our money. It decietful to try to sneak a bill through in the dark of night, assuming that no one is watching. Our for farthers wanted WE THE PEOPLE to be in control of this nation, for the government to have to anser to US; not the other way around. It's time that our congress men and women remember this fact and start to act accordingly. WE elceted YOU in, and WE can elect to replace YOU. it's unwise to think that you can ignore the voice of ANY American.
alright, i'm listening to the audio books and i want to ask a few qeustions. i can't find my copy of OoTP, so i'm not able to look it up for my self.
in the 5th book, when the DA is in the "Hall of Prophecy's" Ron comes across a prophecy with his name on it and listens to it right?? predicting that he'll betray his closest friends or something like that.
and also, with F&G, don't they end up doing 3 pranks in Hogwarts; and getting whipped by Filch as well?? or was the whipping in the movie??
also, bubba has a challenge for everyone.
name 5 things Ron has done in the books to help harry. besides the chess move in SS. sadly, i could only think of one; in DH he pulls Harry from a lake and prevents him from drowning. but other than that, he doesn't accomplish anything besides situational humor
i'm voting for McCain/Palin this year. because i feel their the lesser of the two evils. not that i like either one of them, though i am comfortable with Palin in the VP ticket. you do have to recall that the VP doesn't really do anything... after all what did Al Gore really do those 8 years, or Chenney....
really, i'm more focus on the presidental nominees, more than the VP's. as should every intellegent voter.
while McCain has one foot in the grave, and the younger man is alway mroe appealing to vote for (like with Kennedy vs Nixon, who is said to have gotten alot of votes due to his charming apperance on the TV vs Nixons baggy eyes and non-handsome looks) i feel that this democratic canadate lacks alot of things needed to run our country.
he's never run a business or passed a bill in congress; he can rarely make up his mind on what he supports and what he doesn'ts. he's a leopard that changes his spots to suit the people he talks to, talking like an educated man (when there is a prompter in front of him) in front of White people, then using ghetto slang when around blacks.
i was more than offended when his campaign blantly said "We Need More White Voters" which to me is a racist statment, and if McCain would have said "I need more black voters" that statement would have been taken as racist. but then again, racism is a one way street now a days in this country.
i've already mentioned his lack of knowledge in running ANYTHING, and his switching what he backs and believes. saying at first, there would be no off shore drilling, then changing (because of popular opinion) and saying he has a plan for drilling in 7 years. btw thats what McCain has perposed from the beginning.
from his response to the Georgia/Russia incident. stating at first that both partys were wrong and that a presidential canadate doesn't have the pay grade to make such a decsion; then 3 week later he says that russia is wrong and he backs Georgia in their persuit of a democratic nation. where as McCain said from the beginning that he backed Georgia in this and Russia needed to get out and stop bombing. when your in the run to be the next presidential canadate, it is your job to give us an informed decsion on what you would do; and well within your pay grade.
i also dislike how he has treated supporters of his campaign. from the Rev. Wright situation and also the female delegate he asked to resign over a remark that was taken as racist, and wasn't.
first i'll adress the Rev. Wright situation. in the beginning of his run for the presidencey; back in the very beginning before it was down to him and Hillary; he not only called Rev. Wright is spiritual leaders and said "The Rev. has never made a controversialy remark" but also that this man was a life long family friend and had on many occasions attended dinner with him and his family. once Rev. Wright gives Obama bad publicity, Obama procceeds to throw him under the bus and sever all ties with the man, because it looks bad on his reputation.
he did the same thing to a female delegate (i believe she was in Ill.) who made the remark "Stop playing in the trees like a bunch of monkeys" to a group of kids where a few happened to be black. the remark was heard by a neighbor, who had a long standing problem with the delegate, and reported it as a racial slurr. the next day, Obama asked this lady to resign as a delegate, forcing pressure on her, because of again, it looked bad on his reputation. then the governor found that it was, indeed, not meant racially; and after that Obama wanted her back; because the public backed this decision, and in turn, it would make him look good.
sorry, but i don't want someone who is willing to get rid of supporters and "religous icons" because they make him look bad. what happens when the US makes him look bad in the veiw of the rest of the world. will he put us by the wayside and what is best for this country to appease world leaders and make himself look good in their eyes??
i wont even address the "Lipstick on a pig" comment. hearing the wquote it's more than obvious it was directed towards Palin, by the dramatic pause and the response of the audience. not to mention that since the Rep. Convention Palin has been using that same coined phrase about Hockey moms and pit bulls.
and lets not forget the "My Muslim Religion", where Obama slips up in an interview. i don't care what religion you are, just don't lie about it. and honestly, if you can't keep track of what faith you are, nd have been for 20 or so years; how can we expect you to keep track of more important things; like everything that the president deals with. slip of the tounge, or caught in a lie; i don't care which it is, both are bad in my book.
also, it's hard to look past the bill you did try to sit on and get booted out in Ill. the one that would have forced Hospitals to take care of babies that survived the abortions instead of discarding them and letting them die. no he was all for letting innocent babies who survived such a tramatic experience die. i guess that shows how much he really values human life.
and don't even get me started on his SOCALIST, ANIT AMERICAN, fake wife. who parades her self as one thing, and then to make white voters (again i feel this was a racist move) feel more comfertable with voting for you.
and last but not least, Obama himself acting un-patriotic. refusing to not only wear a flag pin but also refusing to cover his heart during this countries national anthem. coupled with the fact that all the nations that are anti amreican want Obama in the presidency; and someone has tied money comming into Obama's campaing as having middle-eastern ties to it (i don't know the source, i heard in on talk radio a few days ago)
Rudy summed up the Biden issue (whether Obama would switch VP's) better than i could have ever... "You better get it in writing Joe" Hillary's best moe is to watch Obama fail this year and in 4 years run again; now knowing who her enemy's are in the media and party and also using the mistakes Obama has made to her advantage. but it wouldn't surprise me if Obama tried. and no the rumor of Obama droping Biden for Hillary, got started by Obama going and visiting Bill Clinton at Clintons home last week.
Biden has the experience in this ticket, of which Obama has NONE. what has he accomplished besides worming his way into the presidenail ticket?? he hasn't passed anything and has only written memiors. what laws or bills has he proposed. what actions has he taken to do anything with his place of power. nothing. he doesn't have the experience to run this country; as i like to say, "i prefer the teacher to run the class, not the student."
heres my disagreements with some of the things Obama platform...
Anit-War?? yeah thats what he said in the beginning. but now i've heard tale that Obama wants to keep the troops in Iraq and Afganastan longer than needed, he's also said that he's not going for a mass withdrawl of troops from Iraq and wants to put pressure on Pakastan and send more into Afganastan. But anti-military has always been a Democrate thing....
Universal Healthcare doesn't work in the US. look at what happened with Mass. it flopped big time. besides, it is a socialist idea, in a capitalistic economy. *shakes head* unless we become socailist, or communist (which could easily happen, seeing as we have been leading more toward the Socailist way of thinking since Clinton and before) the idea of universal anything wont work. that and the government can't budget anything and doesn't know how to NOt spend. and that's in any presidency because were a nation of consumers and debtors.
tax the rich and coorperations. you do realize that this will force more jobs over seas right?? that this will only help to make illegal immigration worse, seeing as coorperations have alot of influence over our government. taxing the rich and corperations isnt the answer, and will only worsen the problem. besides, our taxes (middle working class and working poor) will suffer from a double edge sword on this. because our taxes will also go up and our jobs will go down.
the answer is decrease spending and the US has to start producing something (ie oil or another form of energy) because as a nation of debtors (where other nations own parts of our country) we are setting our selves up for failure.
so as you can see, my not liking Obama has nothing to do with his race and everything to do wih the colors he has shown throughout 2008. to me, because of all this, McCain is the lesser of the two evils.
though i wish that the media would cover the other 5 canadates running.... it woudl make it more rounded and not feel so much like where picking from two evils...
alright..... as a vet tech, i must admit cats are the worst to work with.... besides Birds. im a dog person for a reason lol yesturday, we had a cat named Luky come in to get neutered today. he was staying over night. i got him out of his carrier to put him in a kennel and he proceeded to wig the fuck out. i drop to the grond to try and secure him, keep him from hurting me more and hurting himself.after a good wrestle with him, i got him in the cage. he's fine other than being a bit ticked off.me on the other hand, i look worse for wear. my arms are scratcged up; and whats worse, he bit my thumb, in the nail bed (better than in the skin and to the bone.it could be alot worse, he just poped off about half my nail. but it hurts like a mofo. when i got home (this happened a few minutes before closing) i clippped of what excess nail i could, and soaked it in bedidine.then i put some triple action ointment on it and wrapped it. i let it breath for the night, then have kept it wrapped all day today; and when i got home today, i was able to trim back the skin this time and more of the nail. the thumb was starting to feel like pressure was building and i felt a big release once i cleared off the dead nail and skin.it's not swollen, or if it is, it's swolled very little. but it stings and it throbs!!!my thumbe feels a little stiff to move and the tip almost feels a bit numb sometimes. if it's not better by friday i'll go to the docor, but i think i'm taking really good care of it. it's not red, so i know theres no infection. and it hurts, so i know its healing lmao the only thing that concerns me is the stiffness. but i think thats just being caused from favoring it and trying not to use it all that much. ofcourse, this is also the same thumb that has been bitten byt a cat before; when i was giving one a bath working at Petco Grooming in 2001. so i'm kinda used to it in this area lmao. must be that this thumb has bed reflexes or somethingi did get the cat back today. liek i said, it was in for a neutur. once he was under anethsesia i was the one to prep him lol with cats, we have to pluck the hair from his testicle sacks. that and the fact he got nuetured was revenge enough lmao
okay i just got up not to long ago and decided to turn on the television.
low and behold, that little cat 1 had exploded overnight and has now become a second Katrina from the looks of him.
in 12 hours, Gustav has went froma cat 1, to a cat 3; and i dare not think how much more intense and big he will get once over the open and bath like water of the gulf.
gas prices have already jumped 20 cents, and that was while he was teetering on the line between tropical stom and hurricane. i dread going out and seeing how much they've jumped, now that he is a full blown Cat 3 and expected to venture into the lands of greater cat 4's and cat 5's.
having already done alot of my shopping for this event, i still find myself lacking a few well needed items; two if you want specifics. a few bags of Charcal and lighter fluid. easy enough to come by on any regular day, but i fear that like bottled water, it will have became scarce by now or rather expesnive to get.
seeing as this will be my first hurricane, as Fay decided she perferred to be a tropical storm much more; you can understand my concern, and pending fear as this rather massive Katrina like storm enters the Gulf and heads towards my home.
*nocks on wood* i can only hope that the damage recieved on my house is again, an 8 inch hole in the roof (as was with Katrina) and that the leavies hold out for NOLA as they're directly in Gustav's path....
and no, i have not forgotten you Tropical Storm Hanna, who is to be a Cat 1 by the time she graces Florida with her presence and heads into the breeding grounds of the Gulf; though i feel her predetermined course is for Mexico and Texas, i still hope she doesn't gain too much power on her way across the warm bath water.
is anyone else preparing, or evacuated or already goign through/have gone though these two storms??
